HIRAM — The Grammy nominated Steeldrivers, Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame legend Chris Hillman with Herb Pedersen and Grammy award-winning John Jorgenson will perform at the 11th annual Ossipee Valley Bluegrass Festival.
The event will take place July 23-26 at the Ossipee Valley Fairgrounds.
Also featured will be chart toppers Cadillac Sky, Gibson Brothers, Ray Leger, Boston Boys, Doerfel Family, Bag Boys, Muddy Marsh Ramblers, Bits and Pieces, Wide Open Spaces, Breakin’ Strings and the Bluegrass Gospel Project.
A second stage has been added this year to feature up-and-coming regional acoustic acts such as Aoife Clancy and The Tough Cats.
Besides 40 hours of live music by national touring artists, the festival is host to the New England Song Contest and flatpicking and banjo championships with prizes totaling more than $10,000. The competitions draw contestants from across the country.
Saturday night will feature a barn dance with John Jorgenson Quintet offering gypsy jazz music. Bluegrass workshops for beginners to the masters level will be given by main stage performers, free of charge. Children’s activities are also offered.
Gates opened for camping on July 19. Friday, Saturday and Sunday tickets are available at the gate or online for $75. Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday tickets are $85. Friday or Sunday only tickets are $25; Saturday all-day tickets are $35. Children 17 and under admitted free. Ossipee Valley Fairgrounds is just off Route 25 in Cornish, two miles on South Hiram Road.
Fans come from across the country to not only hear the music, but to connect with old friends and make new acquaintances. Bring your lawn chair and some sun screen.
