WISCASSET, Maine (AP) – A Maine man accused of causing a fatal crash after drinking in Portland’s Old Port is facing a manslaughter charge.
Twenty-seven-year-old Matthew Doucette of Portland is free on bail after turning himself in at the Two Bridges Jail in Wiscasset over the weekend.
State police say his blood-alcohol content was nearly twice the legal limit for driving late on July 12 when he crashed his car at 100 mph at the Bowdoin exit on Interstate 295. His passenger, 25-year-old Rachel Mooney of Brunswick, died two days later at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.
