AUBURN — Corey Bean led nearly 500 finishers across the line Sunday morning to win Emily’s Run, a 5-kilometer road race in and around the Auburn Heights neighborhood.
The race, part of the Triple Crown series that also includes the YMCA Fit Fest 5K and the L/A Trails Bridge Run 5K, begins and ends at the Edward Little High School track.
The race is named in honor of former EL athlete Emily Fletcher, who died in an automobile accident.
“The run is a celebration of Emily’s life, and friends and family from all over the country came to celebrate Emily,” said Ralph Fletcher, Emily’s father.
Several former and current EL student-athletes, many of whom ran with Emily Fletcher in high school, took part in the race Sunday.
