Theodora Adele Gallant
1915-2009
LIVERMORE – Theodora A. Gallant, 94, died Saturday, July 25, at her residence on Cozy Cove Road in Livermore.
Theo was born in Chisholm, on April 27, 1915, the daughter of Joseph and Laura (Guerin) Therrien. She was the oldest of 11 children. She attended St. Rose Catholic School and graduated from Jay High School class of 1933. On Aug. 31, 1940, she married her husband of 60 years, Fidèle Gallant, at the St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay, and they made their home on Stratford Avenue in Rumford. Fidèle passed away on Aug. 9, 2001.
Theo was employed as an office manager at the optometrist’s practice of Dr. Ames in Mexico. She then went on to develop her own business, Oxford County Tax Service, with offices in Mexico and Livermore. She also worked as Town Clerk of Livermore, holding the additional positions of notary public and justice of the peace until she was 82 years old. Theo was a communicant of St. John’s Church in Rumford, then of St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay.
Theo is survived by her daughters, Kathleen Gallant of Canton and Laurene Juhola of Carver, Mass. She enjoyed spending time with her eight grandchildren, Karen Daise, Laurel Dyer, Donald, Heidi, Marcus and Keith Jellerson, Eric Juhola and Kendra Magyar; four great-grandchildren, Jason Daise, Daniel Christie, Jessica Desper and Sage Jellerson; her brother, Francis Therrien; and two sisters, Yvette Maillett and Claire Parker.
She was predeceased by five brothers, Leo, Reney, Ronald, Roland and Norman Therrien; two sisters, Rita LaBrecque and Jeannette Roy; and her granddaughter, Karen Daise.
