Edith R. Austin
1926 – 2009 

TURNER — Edith R. Austin, 83, of General Turner Hill Road, died Friday, July 24, after a short illness.

She was born in Turner, on Jan. 26, 1926, the daughter of Forrest W. and Grace R. Austin. She was educated in local schools and graduated from Leavitt Institute in Turner.

She had been employed at R.I. Mitchell and later at Hall and Knight as head bookkeeper for many years, until she retired. She attended the Turner Village Church and was a member of the Ladies Circle. She enjoyed reading and especially liked the Boston Red Sox.

She is survived by two brothers, Ivan P. Austin and his wife, Sally, of East Livermore and George C. Austin and his wife, Leota, of Turner; one sister, Eva Austin Dunigan and her husband, Dale, of Springdale, Ark.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by one sister, Charlotte Roak; and brothers, Gerald, Clarence and Willis.
