Eugene J. Gallant
1935 – 2009

MEXICO — Eugene J. Gallant, 73, of Mexico, died unexpectedly July 23, at Central Maine Medical Center.


He was born on Oct. 1, 1935, in Mexico, the son of the late Peter Thomas and Doritha (Desroches) Gallant. He lived in Mexico for most of his life.


He served in the U.S. Marine Corps for 21½ years as a gunnery sergeant, having served a tour in Korea, as well as two tours in Vietnam, then retiring to Maine.


He was very close to his nieces, Jodi Sage and Mandy Jordan, who cared for him. A special mention goes to his dear friends, Norman and Isabelle Robichaud and Demps and Frances Kersey.


He is survived by a son, John N. Gallant and wife, Tamara K., of St. Petersburg, Fla.; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.


He was predeceased by his parents; four brothers, Gerard “Sonny,” Francis, Roger and Everett Gallant; and a sister, Geraldine “Geri” Bither.
