FARMINGTON — An accident on the North Chesterville Road on Saturday landed a Jay driver in jail facing four charges, including leaving the scene of a personal injury accident and driving under the influence.

Kenneth Tourtelotte, 34, of Jay was driving a 1994 Ford when it rounded a corner, hit a guardrail and spun out of control, Farmington officer Ted Neil said. The incident was reported at 3:45 p.m.

While the accident was not witnessed, people passing by came on the scene observing a frantic scurry of vehicle occupants before the vehicle left the scene, he said. Witnesses were able to give police a description and plate number and Tourtelotte and the vehicle were found on Route 133 in Jay, he said.

Two passengers were in the vehicle. One received minor cuts but all occupants refused medical treatment, he said.

Tourtelotte was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence, Neil said.

Estimated damage to the vehicle was $500.
