AUBURN — Main Street Music Lessons, former teachers at the now-defunct Carroll’s Music, will perform from 7 to 8 :30 p.m. Tuesday, July 28, at Festival Plaza, courtesy of Auburn Park and Recreation.

The teachers are Steve Grenier, Arthur Melendy, Rich Keene, Troy Hanscom, Todd Corey, Sumner Elwell and Anne Breau. They offer lessons in guitar, bass guitar, piano, voice, violin, mandolin, banjo and all wind instruments.

At Tuesday’s concert, they will try to use as many different instruments as they can and play a mix of  rock, country, classical, bluegrass, jazz and pop. Main Street Lessons teachers will perform with some current students as well as previous students, including Nate Telow, guitar, and Matt Lamare, violin.

As part of the concert series, an effort is under way to erect a permanent memorial to the late, legendary musician Lenny Breau and to establish a scholarship in his name. A tribute concert, featuring his brother, Denny, is planned for Aug. 16. All Tuesday night concert performers are reducing or eliminating their fees to help fund the scholarship. In addition, raffle tickets for a guitar package willl be sold to help fund the effort.
