Dorothy ‘Dottie’ Young
1952 – 2009

BUCKFIELD — Dottie Young, 56, of Buckfield, died unexpectedly at her residence on July 29.

She was born in Lewiston, Dec. 27, 1952, the daughter of Robert F. and Mildred (Davenport) Henry. She was educated in local schools and graduated from Buckfield High School. She married James Young on July 10, 1971.

She was a 4-H leader for many years and enjoyed yard sales, puzzles, spending time with her family and their camp on Sabattus Lake. Dottie was a housewife and mother and later worked at Lil’ Tykes Daycare in Norway and also cleaned several local homes and businesses.

She is survived by her husband of 38 years, James L.Young of Buckfield; one son, Joseph B. Young of Buckfield; one daughter, Rebecca J. Kuvaja and her husband, Bill; and the loves of her life, her three grandchildren, whom she was especially devoted to, Lacey, Mackenzie and Keegan Kuvaja, all of Norway; her mother, Mildred Henry of Hartford; brother, Stan Henry and his wife, Marilyn, of New Gloucester; brother, John Henry of Greene; sisters, Betty Young and husband, Carl, of West Paris and Donna Darling and husband, Mike of Sumner; sisters-in-law, Alice Williams and husband, Charlie of Buckfield and Idella Jack of Buckfield; brothers-in-law, Roy Young of Buckfield and Allen Young and wife, Peggy of Buckfield; sisters-in-law, Elma and Myrtle Young of South Paris; brother-in-law, Phillip McAlister Sr. of Buckfield; and dear friend, Sheila McAlister and husband, Phil, of Buckfield.

She was predeceased by father, Robert Henry; mother and father-in-law, Claude and Alice Young; brother-in-law, Norman Jack; brother-in-law, Donald and wife, Merline Young; sister-in-law, Mae and husband, Linnie Norton.
