LEWISTON — La Rencontre will meet at 11:30 a.m. Friday, August 7, at the Franco-American Heritage Center. A meal will be followed by a musical program. Patrons are encouraged to speak only French during the two-hour meal and program. The meal will include a hot buffet, beverage and dessert. The cost of the meal is $7 each person.

The musical program will feature local performing artists John Cote, Hannah Rodrigue and Muriel Hendrix. The three musicians, spanning the generations, will perform traditional dance tunes of Quebec and New England. Cote, a local musician who performs with a variety of contra dance bands, will lead the group playing the fiddle and Quebecois style foot percussion. He’ll be joined by Rodrigue on fiddle and Hendrix on piano.
