LEWISTON — Local notaries hoping to expand their duties will get that chance at an Aug. 13 workshop at the Lewiston Public Library.

Hosted by the Informed Notaries of Maine, the workshop will discuss how to establish a business as a mobile notary public. The workshop is being taught by Lisbon notary Victoria Baldwin-Wilson.

A mobile notary public is one who travels to the homes and offices of those seeking to have a form notarized. Many mobile notaries work with lawyers and loan processors.

The Beginning Mobile Notary workshop is scheduled for 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, at the Lewiston Public Library. Parking is available on Park Street by Lewiston City Hall.

The registration fee is $20 for INM members and $25 for nonmembers. Registrations are due by Aug. 7 and any registration received after Aug. 7 will be assessed a $10 late fee. Registrations at the door are not permitted.

Additional information is available from the Informed Notaries of Maine organization at 846-8959 or on their Web site at www.informednotariesofmaine.org.
