Works by Patricia Ritzo of Kingfield and Elizabeth Yamin of New York,
N.Y., will be on view from Saturday, Aug. 8, through Aug.28 at the The
Stadler Gallery on Main Street in Kingifield. Titled "Bright, Bold
Maine Summer," Ritzo’s show captures the energy compressed during long
winter months in a magnificent explosion of summer’s color and light.
Ritzo, a life-time painter known mostly for her pastels, is turning
more to the acrylic painting as shown in her piece, above, titled "Red
Sail IV." Yamin’s show consists of small paintings in oil and acrylic,
as well as works on paper. Her work is strongly influenced by two very
different studio locations — the Brooklyn Navy Yard where she works
most of the year and the area near Mt. Blue in Weld where she spends
her summers. Her paintings reflect the solid blackness of barges, the
angles of cranes and the tenuous rusting of metal on the one hand, and
the cooler palette of colors predominant in the Maine landscape on the
other. There will be an artists reception from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday.
The gallery is open daily from noon to 4 p.m. and by appointment. Go to
