AUBURN — Ralph Maynard Brackett, 91, of Poland Spring, died Friday morning at Hospice House after enduring a long illness.
He was born in Poland Spring on Oct. 13, 1917, the son of Ralph and Betsy Bickford Brackett. Maynard spent his entire life living and working in Poland Spring. He started work at the original Poland Spring Water Co., then became a carpenter and retired as a master plumber.
He was a 61-year member of Tyrian Lodge # 73 A.F. & A.M. in Mechanic Falls. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors. He was a loving and caring person who will be missed by friends and relatives.
Survivors include his daughter, Geraldine Walsh and her husband, Michael; his sons, Vaughn and Gayland; his wife Dawn; grandsons, Kevin and his wife, Robin, and Troy and his wife, Annie; granddaughter, Tamara and her husband, Ron; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Phyllis Brackett; brother-in-law, Norman Bryant and wife, Nathalie; sister-in-law, Geraldine Bryant; many nieces and nephews; and his “grand horses,” Star and Brady.
Maynard was predeceased by six brothers and sisters; his wife, Ethelyn; and a son, Errol.
