SOUTH CHINA, Maine (AP) — Customer service representatives at two FairPoint Communications call centers in Maine have ratified their first union contracts.

Lance Gagne, a union official, says the five-year agreement that covers 55 FairPoint workers in Winthrop and South China, Maine, includes important job security provisions.

The workers formed a new union with Communication Workers Local 1400 a year go. Another 350 FairPoint employees are represented by Local 1400 in New Hampshire, Maine, and Vermont.
