FARMINGTON — A lot of bikes and musical and personal items will go on the auction block Saturday during the Farmington Police Department’s public auction.
With storage of unclaimed items an issue, the department will hold its second public auction Aug. 15 starting at 9 a.m. in the rear of the Municipal Building, secretary Bonnie Pomeroy said.
This is the second auction the department has held, and it’s not quite as large as the one a couple years ago, she said. That one lasted a couple of hours.
There are abandoned items as well as some other town property going on the block. Along with a lot of bikes, the auction includes musical items such as CD players and MP3 players and miscellaneous CDs, she said.
“People will call because a bike has been sitting at some spot for a couple weeks. The police collect it, but no one comes and claims it,” she said. “Storage is an issue.”
There are also watches, jewelry, ice chests, book bags and tools to be auctioned off, she said.
Proceeds from the sales go into the town’s general fund, she said. The auction will be held rain or shine.
