The Jay Historical Society will hold its annual open house at the Homes-Crafts Homestead on Jay Hill from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15. The theme is “75 Years of Local Country Music.” Above is a 1948 picture of Ralph Latham and the Pine Ridge Mountain Boys: from left in front, Louis Nadeau, Dot Wilson and Latham; back, Bing Crosby, Phil Wright and Clarence Chicoine. From 9:30 a.m. to noon, the society will celebrate the last 75 years of country music with live music of local musicians who have played in past and present music groups. Anyone who has additional information or pictures of past or present groups is asked to call Dot White at 897-4876. There will be free house and fire museum tours, a garage sale, food sale, hot dogs and watermelon.
