RANGELEY — World-renowned pianist Julian Lawrence Gargiulo will perform at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 17, at the Church of the Good Shepherd.

He will hold a master class at 1 p.m. with several local musicians participating. The public is invited to attend.

Gargiulo is a dynamic classical pianist who renders the compositions of the masters with passion and precision, and fills concert halls with his personal brand of charm, humor and charisma. He has performed at Carnegie Hall and other venues in the United States, as well as in Italy, France, Germany, England, Russia, Singapore and Australia.

Earlier this year, he released his fifth CD, “Appassionata,” with works of Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Chopin and Liszt.

Born in Italy and educated both there and in the United States, he studied at the Verona State Conservatory, the Mugi Academy in Rome and the Moscow State Conservatory.  In the United States, he received a bachelor’s degree at Rowan University, master’s degree at the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University and a doctor of musical arts degree at the University of Maryland. He holds dual U.S. and Italian citizenship.

Gargiulo is on the piano faculty at the Westerhoff School of Music in New Jersey and the Dwight Conservatory in New York, N.Y. He also is founder and director of the Sacred Heart Concert Series, a program that brings classical music to younger audiences and the Water Island Classical Music Festival in the Virgin Islands.
