In their early teens the Moon Dawgs began their career in 1963 in a basement with an old upright piano and an overturned ice bucket for drums using sawed off broom handles for drumsticks. Their first gig took place in a small second floor dance hall for a crowd of 20 people.

Practice and perseverance paid off. They played to sellout crowds from Lewiston City Hall (Pal Hops) to Portland, Augusta, Bangor, Skowhegan, Waterville and other East Coast cities. They toured the Canadian Maritime Provinces to as far as Sydney, Nova Scotia and Glace Bay. They opened shows with Dave Clark Five, the Kingsmen (Louie Louie), Freddie and the Dreamers, and the Searchers. Recently, they performed in the West Palm Beach ,Florida area.

After nearly forty-five years of performing the Moon Dawgs are still entertaining crowds of all ages. “We are looking forward to this event”, said Bob Roy, drummer. It is about our culture, heritage, and a history of music and the many talented musicians who entertained the Lewiston-Auburn area and various Maine communities for decades.
