RANGELEY — The summer Sunday Natural Science Program for Aug. 16 will be on “Bats and White Nose Disease” by Peggy Betts at the Wilhelm Reich Museum, Dodge Road.

The  program will describe white nose disease and how it affects bats. The disease has been killing bats throughout the Northeast for several years, and scientists are trying to find out more before it wipes them out.

Betts was born in Philadelphia and grew up in New Jersey. After high school, she moved to Maine. She has had a long interest in bats and is a member of Bat Conservation International. She is an EMT with Northstar EMS.

The 2 p.m. Sunday nature programs are free.
