RUMFORD — “The Rivals,” a story of football in two towns in Maine, Rumford, a struggling mill town in Oxford County, and Cape Elizabeth, an affluent suburb on the coast of Maine, will be shown at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, in Muskie Auditorium, Mountain Valley High School.

Matt Kaubris, Rumford resident and CEO of Oxford Federal Credit Union, recently saw the film in Waterville when it premiered at the Maine International Film Festival. Kaubris commented, “Once I saw it, I knew that many from our area would love it as well. OFCU is proud to be a co-sponsor along with Headlight Audio of Portland in bringing ‘The Rivals’ for a local showing at Mountain Valley High School. It’s a great way to show our support of our local community.”

There will be a number of other special activities that evening. The majority of the proceeds from the event will go to the family of MVHS student-athlete, Danny Garneau, recently diagnosed with leukemia. He has begun chemotherapy at Maine Medical Center.

Besides the donations at the door, a 50/50 raffle will be conducted along with sales of “The Rivals” posters, a New England Patriots ticket raffle, concessions and a raffle to enter the OFCU money booth.
