Norman A. Hanson
1921 – 2009
RUMFORD — Norman A. Hanson, 87, died Wednesday, Aug. 19, at the Rumford Hospital. He was a resident of Peru.
He was born in Perth, New Brunswick, Canada, Sept. 30, 1921, a son of Herbert and Margaret (Hanscom) Hanson. He attended Andover schools. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1942 to 1945. He worked for Malloy Construction as a crane operator.
He was a member of Napoleon Ouellette Post 24 American Legion, Robert Shand Post 1641, VFW. He enjoyed the camp at Chain of Ponds and he also enjoyed moose and bird hunting.
He was married to the late Ruth Brackett.
Survivors include three sons, William and his wife, Marjorie, of Peru, Randy “Zeke” and his wife, Linda, of Rumford and Raymond Lee and his wife, Sally, of Peru; step daughter, Janet McKenney of Shapleigh; eight grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Judith Penley; four sisters, Ruby, Velma, Mildred and Bernice; three brothers, Wallace, William and Clinton.
