NORWAY — Two men were arrested Wednesday and charged with dealing prescription painkillers from a Cottage Street apartment.

John H. Aube, 42, of Cottage Street and Cecil Ryan Cash, 59, of High Street in Paris were each charged with aggravated drug trafficking. Aube was also charged with possession of marijuana and furnishing drugs.

Officer Theron Bickford of the Norway Police Department said the men were arrested after a two-month investigation. An undercover informant purchased prescription drugs from the two men, and a search at Aube’s apartment led to additional evidence of trafficking. Cash was also arrested based on an extended investigation involving controlled purchases, the officer said.

Bickford said a quantity of prescription medication was recovered in the search, but he was unable to give an exact amount.

The charges were aggravated because Aube’s apartment is within 1,000 feet of the drug-free zone of a town park on Cottage Street. Aube received additional charges after the search found marijuana and prescription drugs at his residence.

Bickford said Cash does not have a criminal history, and Aube was previously convicted of drug possession.
