Church celebration

SUMNER – The Congregational Church of East Sumner will hold a special celebration of summer service at 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29. The Rev. Nancy Miaoulis will lead the worship service. There will be pie and coffee in the vestry to end the evening.

The members will take part in the annual Labor Day celebration in Buckfield on Sept. 7, with a parade float, a pie table, a raffle table and the new cookbooks, “Pleasures from the Good Earth.” For more information, call Bill or Linda at 388-2263.

Firewood raffle

PARIS – The South Paris X-ta Mile ATV Club is holding a firewood raffle, giving away a cord of dry firewood cut, split and delivered within 25 miles of Paris.

The club will sell tickets at Smedberg’s Crystal Spring Farm, Route 26, Oxford, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29. The drawing will be held at 1 p.m. and the tickets are one for $1 or six for $5. Memberships and shirts will also be available.
