NEW SHARON — A St. Albans logger’s condition has been upgraded to fair Wednesday at a Lewiston hospital after he received injuries in a logging accident Tuesday afternoon.
Wayne Knight, 65, was unhitching a load of logs when his skidder rolled back and pinned his pelvis area between a skidder and the wood for about three hours in a log yard off Jersey Avenue.
Jeff Harris of New Sharon heard Knight’s calls for help and investigated and found the logger.
Harris turned the steering wheel of the skidder to relieve the pressure off of Knight and then helped him to the ground.
New Sharon firefighters were called in along with ambulance crews and they assisted the injured logger before he was flown to Central Maine Medical Center.
