Louis P. Couture
1935 – 2009

LEWISTON — Louis Paul Couture, 74, of Lewiston, died Friday, Aug. 21, at Central Maine Medical Center.

He was born in Auburn, March 27, 1935, the son of Laureat and Fernande (Simard) Couture. He married the former Aline Lamontagne on June 14, 1958, and they have been married for 51 years. He was educated in Auburn schools and finished his diploma in 1977 with the Lewiston Adult Education.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed for 45 years with ITT Continental Baking Co./Wonder Bread as a salesman. He was a member of Holy Family Church. He was active duty in the U.S. Army for a year during the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1961, he was also a Maine National Guardsman in the Tank Battalion for 11 years. He enjoyed golfing, candlepin bowling, gardening and traveling.


Besides his wife, Aline he is survived by his daughters, Laurianne Champagne and her husband, Marcel, of Poland, Sylvia McGraw and her husband, Roland, of Willow Springs, N.C., Cynthia Martin and her husband, Timothy, of Poland and Susan Hatch and her husband, Kevin, of Poland; four grandchildren, Zachary Hatch, Elizabeth Champagne, Katelyn McGraw and Tyler Hatch; his brother, Fern Couture of Florida; his sisters, Madeleine Lemieux of Lisbon and Monique Doiron of Lewiston; and nieces and nephews.
