PORTLAND — Portland Stage Company will participate in the First Friday Art Walk Friday, Sept. 4, with a series of comedic readings and songs performed by the company’s Affiliate Artists, a collective of local theater professionals.

From 5 to 5:30 p.m., the “Comedy on the Stairs” program will feature the poems of Shel Silverstein for audiences of all ages. The remainder of the evening, until 7:30 p.m. will offer laugh-out-loud performances of scenes ranging from Monty Python to Edward Albee’s “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf” to “When Harry Met Sally,” with a sprinkling of high-energy show tunes.

In the spirit of the Art Walk, the performances will take place on Portland Stage’s main staircase so viewers can come and go as they please. Portland Stage Company is at 25A Forest Ave.
