AUBURN — The Central Maine Community College Corporate and Community Services Department will offer an ICD-9 medical coding class from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, Sept. 17 through Dec. 10. The cost of the course is $425 and includes the textbook.
Medical coding is the translation of diagnoses, procedures, services and supplies into numeric and/or alphanumeric components for statistical reporting and reimbursement purposes. For anyone just starting to learn the ins and outs of coding diagnoses and procedures in health records, the workshop will provide the tools to develop skills for coding accuracy.
The hybrid course will cover all areas of ICD-9-CM diagnostic coding for physician office billing. Learning will occur in the classroom and online, allowing students to progress at their own pace. Students should have experience in medical terminology for this class.
The course is open to the public and will be taught by Judy Roy.
