Kathryn P. Dunn
1919 – 2009
AUBURN — Kathryn P. Dunn, 90, of Mud Street, Turner accomplished a selfless and loving life that concluded on Aug. 28.
She was born in Newark, N.J., May 31, 1919, the daughter of Arthur T. and Kathryn E. Gargan Tully. She and her family moved to Hartford in 1932, where she continued her education.
One of five children, she was predeceased by her brothers, Arthur, Edward and John Tully; and her sister, Margaret Tully Harding.
Kay’s life was forever changed by widowhood. She was married to Alfred B. Dunn, who died in 1943 at the age of 24; and to Edward F. Dunn, who died in 1977 at the age of 54.
In addition to private employment, she worked as a welder at Bath Iron Works shipyard during World War II.
Her laughter will be missed by her six sons, three daughters and their families: Alfred Dunn and Linda Hansen of Brewer, Althea Gould of San Francisco, Calif., Patricia Hunt of Turner, Arthur and Diane Dunn of Andover, Minn., Charles and Valerie Dunn of Greene, John and Diane Dunn of Turner, George and Betsy Dunn of Hartford, Emerson and Margaret Baker of York and David and Joan Dunn of Oxford. Whether they knew her as grandma, nanny or nan, her descendants include 20 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She relished and appreciated the love and kindness of numerous special friends and family members that filled her life, particularly her niece and husband, Peggy and Cecil Tilley of North Turner.
