Barbara A. Roy

LISBON FALLS  – Barbara Anne Roy, 81, of Lisbon Falls, passed away at her home on Aug. 28, following a brief illness.

Barbara was born in raised in Lisbon Falls, the third daughter of four children to the late Wilfred and Annie (Baumann) Rioux. She attended local schools and graduated from Lisbon High School in 1945.

She and her husband, Philip A. Roy Sr., made their home in Lisbon Falls all the years they were married. Barbara loved to read and spent many hours with her favorite authors. Barbara worked in the local mills and made coats for her children from wool that was made in the mill. She even made braided rugs from scraps of wool. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting and was known for her needlework. Many of these items were donated to the local bazaars to help raise money for various causes.

Barbara is survived by her husband of 63 years, Philip A. Roy Sr.; her sons, Philip A. Roy Jr. of North Miami Beach, Fla., Ronald Roy of Mystic, Conn., Richard Roy of Topsham and Patrick Roy of Lisbon Falls; and her daughters, Barbara Dube of Lewiston, Theresa Ellis of Clayton, N.C., and Linda Roy of Lewiston. She also leaves her sisters, Winifred Petz or Clearwater, Fla., and Regina McInerney of El Cajon, Calif. Barbara was blessed with 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brother, Gerald Roiux of Bath, in 2002.
