Bridge play

LEWISTON — The Lewiston-Auburn Duplicate Bridge Club met on Aug. 25 at the Multi-Purpose Center. Winners in flight A were: first, Paul Sherman and Rosemarie Goodwin; second, David Lock and Jeanine Kivus; third, Vernon and Janet Arey; fourth, Linda Leotsakos and Nancy Farmer. Flight B winners were: first, Linda Leotsakos and Nancy Farmer; second, Roger Labbe and Jackie Deschene. Another game will be played at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, at the center.

The club also met on Aug. 26 at Schooner Estates in Auburn. Winners were Leslie Buzzell and John Hackett; second, Alberta Turner and Lucille Bilodeau; third, Ron and Connie Reynolds. Another game will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, at Schooner Estates.

Veterans council

LEWISTON — The L and A Veterans Council meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, at the Multi Purpose Center.

Adoption meeting

LEWISTON — The Lewiston office of the Department of Health and Human Services will host a public informational meeting about adoption and foster
care at 6:30 p.m Tuesday, Sept. 1, for those interested. For location and to participate, please contact A Family For ME

Those considering adoption or foster care through the Maine Department
of Health and Human Services are encouraged to attend the open, no
obligation meeting. 

Golden Age Club

AUBURN — The Sacred Heart Golden Age Club of Immaculate Heart of
Mary Parish will meet Tuesday, Sept. 8. A lunch of chicken and broccoli
Alfredo, cole slaw, bread, coffee, tea, water and dessert will be
served at noon. Cost is $5. Call Paula at 576-4082 no later than
Sunday, Sept. 6 for reservations.

There will be nominations of new officers for 2010 and members should be prepared with their nominations.

The
meeting will start at 1 p.m., in the church hall, with a guest speaker
from the Fortin Funeral Group. All Immaculate Heart of Mary
parishioners are welcome to attend and no reservations are needed.Members are reminded of the table for the food bank and the money jar.
