1940-2009
AUBURN — Dianne (Edith) Jordan, 69, of Turner, passed away at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice on Friday, Aug. 28, 2009, after a six-month battle with cancer.
Dianne was born in Green on May 22, 1940, a daughter of the late Kenneth and Irene (Johnson) Fogg. She attended Leavitt Area High School, as did her parents and all of her children and grandchildren. She graduated from Leavitt Area in 1958.
She married the love of her life Arlen Jordan on Aug. 9, 1958. They were united in marriage by Dianne’s grandfather the Rev. William Johnson at the Greene Baptist Church. They moved to Turner Village where they made their home surrounded by friends and family for 28 years. Since 1986 they have lived on County Road in Turner.
Dianne’s life was devoted to the pursuit of happiness. She went to Turner Adult Education and received her certified nursing assistant certification. She worked at d’Youville Pavilion as a CNA for several years and later cared for both her father and mother. She was an avid snowmobiler taking trips from Eustis to Canada in the 1970s. She later road snowmobiles with her entire family throughout Maine and Canada. She enjoyed many years with her family and friends canoeing, riding four-wheelers and snowmobiling at their camp in Eustis.
In later years she and Arlen traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and Canada, often taking their grandchildren with them. She enjoyed dividing her time between her homes in Turner, Eustis and Leesburg, Fla.
She will be remembered as a faithful wife, loving mother, and grandmother.
In 1972 she started the girl’s softball program in Turner so that her daughters and their friends could play. She enjoyed watching her children, and later in life her grandchildren, participate on a number of sporting teams. Dianne was dedicated to all aspects of her grandchildren’s lives. She always saw her grandchildren off to the first day of school and witnessed her youngest grandchild start school on Aug. 25, 2009.
Dianne is survived by her beloved husband of 51 years and soul mate, Arlen of Turner, daughters; Linda Ames and her husband Brian and their children, Brian Jr., Jessica, and Bethany Ames; and Alison Durgin and her husband Brian and their children, Sarah and Ian Durgin; and a son Ken Jordan and wife Jennifer and their children, Carter, Carly, Camden and Cara, all of Turner.
