LEWISTON — An Auburn motorcyclist remained in critical condition Monday night at a Lewiston hospital after a Thursday night crash on Route 26 at the entrance to Oxford Plains Speedway.
Richard Lothrop, 58, of 6 Russell Ave. was listed critical condition at Central Maine Medical Center, according to a nursing supervisor. Lothrop suffered head injuries after his southbound motorcycle and a pickup truck hauling a race car collided. The truck was driven by a Kristen Brown, 17, of Poland.
Brown and her father, David Brown, also of Poland, are racers at the stock car track. According to authorities, Kristen Brown was pulling out to head south on Route 26, but did not see Lothrop.
The case is being handled by the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office.
