Circle to meet
RUMFORD — St. Timothy Circle 504, Daughters of Isabella, will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, at the Parish of the Holy Savior Church Hall. Committee members are Lorraine Barre, chairwoman, Janet Bean, Simoine Rafuse, Mary Morgan, Marie Coffin and Viola Worcester.
Strathglass meeting
RUMFORD — The Strathglass Property Owners Association will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, in the conference room of the Town Hall. Members should note the change of meeting location. The association will reconvene for a bake sale fundraiser at the information booth parking lot after the meeting until 2 p.m. Baked goods and scented candles will be for sale. Purchase orders for SPOA T-shirts will be available. Any baked goods donated would be welcome.
Class meeting
RUMFORD — The Mexico High School Class of 1959 will meet at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, at Teena’s Restaurant, Route 2.
Library sale
RUMFORD — The annual book sale will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, at Rumford Public Library.
In addition to new-condition books that can be purchased for as little as $2, videos and audio books will be available. Children’s books, nonfiction and modern and classical fiction will be featured. All sales benefit library programs.
Books will be sorted by category. The event will take place downstairs in the public room, with some tables outside if weather permits.
Anyone with books to contribute other than textbooks may drop them off during library hours. Friends of the Rumford Library, part of Friends of Libraries USA, is the sponsoring group. New members and volunteers are welcome.
Preschool stories
DIXFIELD — Preschool storytime at Ludden Memorial Library will resume on Monday, Sept. 14, meeting every Monday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. during the school year. There will be stories, crafts and snacks. All are welcome. If there isn’t any school, there won’t be any storytime.
Bowling begins
RUMFORD — The Pine Tree Bowling League will hold a practice and meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14, at Oxford Lanes. New bowlers are welcome. Call Rick at 364-7800 or John Kezal at 364-7430 for details.
Free workshop
PARIS — The Maine Educational Opportunity Center will host free workshops, “Essentials of College Planning,” at the following times and locations: South Paris Career Center, 232 Main St., at 10 a.m. Mondays, Sept. 14 and 28, and Rumford Career Center, 35 Congress St., at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 21.

Bridge results
RUMFORD — The Rumford Bridge Club meets at 1 p.m. Mondays in the Senior Center. Anyone interested in duplicate bridge is welcome. Results for Aug. 17 were a tie for first and seond place, Bob and Thesesa Soucy and Jessie Shea and Anna Cormier.
