The Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War 1861-1865, Department of Maine, held their convention recently in Waterville. Officers elected were: president, Michelle Cary; senior vice president, Elsie Bonney; junior vice president, Marilyn Jones; chaplain, Vicki Myers; patriotic instructor, JoAnne Crockett; treasurer, Gail Butterfield; secretary, Sally Sawyer; press correspondent, Alice Hoyt; historian, Mary Jones; VAVS, Sally Sawyer; registrar, Sally Sawyer; Memorial Committee, Gail Butterfield; council members, Helvi Cary, Mary Jones, Jane Wardwell; color guard, Althea Jean Cary, Lesley Bean. The national convention will be held Thursday through Monday, Aug. 6 to 10, at the Merry Manor Inn, South Portland.
