RUMFORD — The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope and Healing at Central Maine Medical Center will offer a four-week wellness series titled “Paths to Wholeness.” All sessions will take place from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Tuesdays at Rumford Hospital in room 357. The schedule is as follows: 

Tuesday, Sept. 1: “Nutrition to Help You Thrive.” The new food pyramid will be discussed along with nutritious whole grains that play a role in building a stronger, healthier body during and following cancer treatments. 

Tuesday, Sept. 8: “Strengthen Your Inner Skill.” Studies show that exercise assists in the reduction of treatment symptoms and strengthens the immune systems. Attendees will learn breathing techniques and gentle exercises to enhance a sense of well being. 

Tuesday, Sept. 15: “Manage Pain with Healing Energy.” Discussions will include the structures of the energetic body, how to sense energy and how to move blockages to relieve pain. 

Tuesday, Sept. 22: “The Emotional and Spiritual Impact of Cancer.” Discussion will focus on emotional and spiritual reactions to a cancer diagnosis, learning ways to cope and find a meaning it in all.
