Greater Purpose, a gospel and spiritual group from Franklin County, will join 50-plus musicians from across Maine Sept. 4-6 at Countryfolk Music Theatre in Dixfield to pay tribute to Dick Curless, Maine’s most famous country music star. Over the span of his career, the singer-songwriter and guitarist from Fairfield recorded 22 Billboard Top 40 hits. Members of Greater Purpose, from left, are Alan Hutchinson on keyboard, Louise McCleery on harmony vocals, Cathi Burke on lead vocals and Craig Hutchinson on guitar and vocals. Greater Purpose will perform 6 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 5. The free weekend event will also feature a country dance with music by Christine and Terry Moore, a Dick Curless look-alike contest and potluck meals. In addition, Roger Conant of Bethel has donated 16 vintage Dick Curless albums to Countryfolk, some of which will be raffled with proceeds benefiting youth music scholarships.
