Grange meeting

POLAND — Excelsior Grange 5 will meet at at 7:30 p.m. Saturday,
Sept. 5, at the hall for a regular meeting. It will be a planning
meeting for 2010 and members will choose subjects for programs.
Refreshments will be served at the close of the meeting. All members
are urged to attend to contribute their ideas for the coming year.

Bridge play

LEWISTON — The Lewiston-Auburn Social Bridge Club winners at the Multi-Purpose Center on Aug. 31 were: first, Jackie Deschene and Rosemarie Goodwin; second, Cynthia and Bill Clifford; third, Lue Bilodeau and Luke Merry; fourth, Marta Clements and Hazel Glazier. Strata B winners were: first, Cynthia and Bill Clifford; second, Marta Clements and Hazel Glazier; third, Nancy Farmer and Linda Leotsakos.

Games are played at 9 a.m. Mondays and a partner is always guaranteed. There will be no game on Monday, Sept. 7, Labor Day. Call Rosemarie at 754-1431 for more information.

OES meeting

WALES — Lakeside Chapter 60, Order of the Eastern Star, will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, at the Masonic Hall, 322 Centre Rd. The theme of the evening will be “Jokes, Trivia and Stories.” Members and visiting members are reminded to bring humorous items to share and items for the food bank.

Ladies will wear long gowns and gentlemen will wear dark suits or tuxedos. Light refreshments will be served after the meeting.

Firefighters

DURHAM — The Androscoggin County Firefighters Association will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, at the Durham Fire and Resuce Station. The program will be the LAST team.

Sock hop

AUBURN — Auburn Youth Hockey will hold a 1950s sock hop from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, at Hasty Memorial Armory, Pettengill Park. Music will be provided by DJ Mac Dickson.

There will be a 1950s diner and candy store, sundae buffet, raffles, door prizes, a photo booth and many free activites. There will be contests, including dancing and best costume.

Admission for adults is $5, seniors and under 18, $3. For more information or to purchase tickets, call Julie at 577-1218.
