BANGOR — Jan Tittle, national president of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, arrived at the Bangor International Airport on Aug. 26 to visit Maine auxiliaries. She was greeted at the airport by members holding American flags.

She visited VFW posts in Ellsworth, Waterville and Portland. Auxiliary and VFW members from at least 10 posts traveled to the three locations to meet and visit with Tittle. She spoke about her priorities: veterans, cancer aid and research and auxiliary membership.

On Aug. 27, Tittle and Department of Maine officers Lynn Dunton, president, Barbara Cook, junior vice president, and Candace Jackman, historian, all of VFW Post 3335, Jay, and Fran Booth, past national president, of Old Orchard Beach Post 7997, were given a tour of the Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor. The auxiliaries have been supporting the Jackson Laboratory’s cancer research for more than 60 years.

Tittle will be traveling to every state. She was driven by Dunton on Aug. 28 to meet with auxiliary members from New Hampshire for the next leg of her national tour.
