BUCKFIELD — The theme for the Labor Day weekend activities is Past, Present and Future, Recreation Committee Chairman Chris Reed announced this week.

The holiday festivities begin with a football game at 1 p.m. Saturday between Buckfield High School and Damariscotta at the ball field behind the Municipal Building.

There will be a BYOB dance Saturday from 8 p.m. to midnight in the courtyard at the Municipal Building. Entertainment will be provided by DJ Aron C. Guests are asked to bring tables and chairs if they want them. Tickets are $10 each or $15 per couple.

The Labor Day parade Monday is a highlight of the weekend, with floats, antique cars and engines, horses, bicycles and bands in the procession. It steps off at 10 a.m. from Buckfield High School and follows Route 140 to Route 117 and end at the field behind the Municipal Building. Lineup is at 9 a.m.

Food and games will occupy the afternoon on the ball field behind the Municipal Building. There will be a live band, horse and pony rides, the American Red Cross blood drive, carriage rides, a horseshoe tournament, a dunk tank and numerous vendors. The annual river duck race will be held at noon. Ducks cost $5. Prizes are $100 for first place, $50 for second and $25 for third.
