On Friday, a Dixfield Public Works crew began piling up sand for winter using a sand conveyor borrowed from the Maine Department of Transportation. Dick Frost in the bucket loader slowly feeds the conveyor. Public Works mechanic Craig Woods said they were trying the conveyor out for the first time on their pile of about 2,500 yards of sand left over from last winter. “We’re trying to get it all into a neat pile and get ready for winter,” Woods said.
