Edith P. Blodgett

TURNER — Edith P. Blodgett, 83, of Pleasant Pond Road, Turner, formerly of Somerset Street, Rumford, passed away Sunday, Sept. 6, at her home after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer, with her loving children and grandchildren at her side.
She was born in Rumford, July 14, 1926, a daughter of Antonio “Tony” and Hattie (Burgess) Ciccarelli.
She worked in the mill during World War II, and as a caregiver to several local families.
She loved to play beano, watch her soap operas, do word search puzzles, travel, and most of all, spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are a son, David Blodgett and wife, Sharon, of Lewiston; three daughters, Hazel U. Cooley of Pennsylvania, Cheryl A. Thibodeau and husband, Gerard, of Presque Isle and Karen E. Arsenault and husband, Raymond, of Turner; a brother, Nicola Ciccarelli; sisters, Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Ellis of Rumford, Pauline Swett of Gardiner, Gloria Shaw and husband, George, of Mexico and Rose Houghton of Rumford; 11 grandchildren, Thomas Cooley and wife, Kim, Dawne Lohmann, Rebecca Jamieson, Ericka Smith and husband, Joel, Shelly Pepin and husband, Joe, Chad Blodgett, Melissa Blodgett, Brett Townsend and wife, Michele, Michael Richard II and wife, Nandy, Rachael Land and David Land; and eight great-grandchildren, Nathaniel Blodgett, Carter Remeika, Brianna Remeika, Jacob Smith, Olivia Lohmann, Joshua Leclair, Alexis Rae Richard and Johanna Smith.
She was predeceased by her parents; and a sister, Flora Werley.
