Herbert L. Bryant
1929 – 2009
BRUNSWICK — Herbert L. Bryant, 80, resident of Colonial Gardens in Lisbon Falls died Monday, Sept. 7, at Mid Coast Hospital.
He was born May 27, 1929 in Bon Air, Ala., a son of Bill and Bertha (Baggett) Bryant. He served his country for 22 years in the Navy, retiring in 1969. After his Navy career, he worked for Bath Iron Works for 13 years as a marine electrician.
Herb and his wife Barb spent 20 winters in Florida after retiring. He enjoyed summers in Maine. He liked his vegetable gardens as well as World War II stories and movies. He was a very humble man who loved his home and his family dearly. He will be remembered as a real “southern gentleman.”
He is survived by his loving wife and soulmate, Barb of 55 years; three daughters, Priscilla and her husband, James Gaffney, of Hollis Center, Pat and her husband, Royce Haines, of Lisbon Falls and Paula and her husband, Gary Landry, of Richmond; a sister, Ruth Fields of Columbus, Ga.; a very special grandson, Taylor Haines of Lisbon Falls; and aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews all in Alabama.
He was predeceased by a sister Joyce Bowers, formerly of Deatsville, Ala.
