FARMINGTON — The Farmington Ski Club is announcing two events that are scheduled on Saturday, Sept. 12: a membership/community volunteers work day and a benefit dinner.

The ski club is inviting all of its membership and others interested from the community to a volunteer work day at Titcomb beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday. Trail clearing, painting, firewood and cleaning projects need to be completed. Call Karleen Andrews at Titcomb Mountain, 778-9031, or Rick Deane at 778-3351 to join a volunteer group.

Maintenance Supervisor Jim Sawyer recently suffered a heart attack and will probably not be able to contribute as much as other years in getting the mountain ready for winter. He and his family will be incurring significant medical expenses in the near future.

The Farmington Ski Club will hold a benefit barbecue/potluck supper at 4 p.m. at the conclusion of the work day. The club will provide hamburgers, hot dogs and condiments and is asking those attending to also bring a dish or dessert. Tickets are $10 a person, $15 a couple and $20 a family and can be purchased in advance or at the door. Tickets may be purchased by calling Titcomb Mountain at 778-9031 or Shelley Deane at 778-3351. Those interested are asked to consider buying in advance to help determine an accurate head count.

Those unavailable that day but who would still like to contribute should send donations to Jim Sawyer Fund, C/O Franklin Savings Bank, PO Box 825, Farmington, ME 04938.

For more information, contact Karleen Andrews at 778-9031 or Rich Smith at 778-9892.
