MEXICO — Police are on the lookout
for a man they say struck a home with his vehicle on Brown Street,
left the scene and failed to stop for police.
Sgt. Roy Hodsdon said a resident of
Brown Street reported Wednesday morning that someone hit her home
with a vehicle, causing more than $1,000 damage to the
siding on the building and the lawn.
Just after
midnight Wednesday, Officer Dustin Broughton stopped a Dodge Dakota pickup
truck after receiving reports that the driver was driving erratically
and squealing tires on Howard Street, Hodsdon said. When the driver, identified
as Troy Blanchard of Howard Street, Mexico, pulled over, he jumped from the
vehicle and fled on foot between houses on Howard Street. The front
of the pickup showed more than $1,000 damage.
When the woman’s report came in
Wednesday morning, police believe it was Blanchard’s vehicle that
struck the house, the sergeant said.
A bulletin was issued to area police agencies to be watching for Blanchard.
Hodsdon said Blanchard faces possible charges of operating after suspension, leaving the scene
of a property damage accident, failure to stop for a police officer
and criminal mischief.
