LEWISTON — The Senior College “Food for Thought” luncheon program series at USM/Lewiston-Auburn will return on Friday, Sept. 11, with a presentation by Donna Berry about the West Auburn School, the city’s last remaining one-room school.
Berry is a member of the West Auburn School Historical Society and recently co-authored a book on the history of North and West Auburn. She will play the part of the schoolmarm and recreate an 1850s school day. Berry retired to Maine in 1996 after a teaching career of 28 years.
Senior College, now in its 11th year, presents the monthly noon luncheon program in the Function Room 170 at USM/LAC. The cost, which includes lunch, is $7 with advance reservation or $8 at the door, opening at 11:30 a.m. Reservations must be made no later than noon Thursday, Sept. 10, by phone at 753-6510. Any late callers will be considered as “at the door.”
