TURNER — The Turner Center Universalist Church will resume worship services at 11:15 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 12, with the Rev. Stanley Tanner.
Religious exploration
AUBURN — The First Universalist Church of Auburn’s Religious Exploration program will spend the 2009-10 year learning about nature, environmental stewardship and the connection to the Earth.
Sunday, Sept. 13 will mark the opening of the program, with a multigenerational service beginning at 10 a.m. The Religious Exploration classes will begin at 10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 20.
The program, divided by age groups and open to children ages 3 to 18, includes art and music activities, stories and discussions, hands-on learning and community service opportunities. For more information, visit www.auburnuu.org.
Art, Literature Club
AUBURN — The Auburn-Lewiston Art and Literature Club will begin its program season at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14, at the Women’s Literary Union Club House. June Spear, a seasoned traveler, will present “Landscapes and Gardens in and around Cambridge, England.”
Spear is a retired teacher and a volunteer instructor and member of the Senior College board of directors, as well as a board member of the West Auburn School Historical Society.
A tea will follow hosted by Betty Crowley, Helen Archambault, Mary Provencher and Mary Godin.
Lewiston Seniors
LEWISTON
— The Lewiston Senior Citizens will have their “welcome back” meeting
on Monday, Sept. 14, at the Multi-Purpose Center, 145 Birch St. There
will be a cookout at noon, followed by the meeting at 1 p.m. Cost for
the cookout is $3 and should be paid by Friday, Sept. 11. There will be
bingo after the meeting.
Prostate cancer
AUBURN — A discussion on detecting and surviving prostate cancer will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., Monday, Sept. 14, at the Auburn Public Library, 49 Spring St. James and Mona Ervin from the
Maine Coalition to Fight Prostate Cancer will speak about the
experience of being diagnosed with prostate cancer, and what it means
for the patient and his family. They will discuss prostate cancer
diagnosis and treatment, support for patients and caregivers and the
importance of early detection.
Prostate cancer facts, statistics and helpful resources will be on
display throughout the month in the library lobby.

Sodality meeting
LEWISTON — The Rosary Sodality of St. Patrick Church will meet Tuesday,
Sept. 15. At 6:30 p.m. there will be a recitation of the rosary in the
chapel, followed by a meeting in the Msgr. Fitzpatrick Room to discuss
plans for Corporate Communion Sunday in October and the future of
sodality.
Members are reminded to bring a donation of arts and crafts supplies for the Trinity after school program.
Line dancing
AUBURN — Temple Shalom is again
offering beginner/intermediate level line dancing, beginning Tuesday, Sept. 15, from 10 to 11:15 a.m. Cost of the ongoing class is $4 each session and no partner is needed. The
class will be instructed by Marjorie Perkins of Brunswick.
No previous dance experience is needed and the program is open to the public. To register or for more information, call the Temple office at 786-4201. Temple Shalom is located at 74 Bradman St.
