WILTON —  A U.S. Marine with ties to Wilton, Farmington, Lewiston and North Carolina became the subject of a police search when he was reported missing on Friday.

According to a Wilton Police Department bulletin on Saturday, Peter Richard, 23, was last seen leaving Main Street in Wilton at 6 a.m. Friday en route to Topsham to attend a Marine Corps function.

Wilton police received a missing person report at 12:50 p.m. that day.

Richard is described as 5 feet, 5 inches tall, 179 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. The bulletin states he was driving a beige 1998 Ford Contour with the Maine license plate 9140MP.

Richard, who was believed to be wearing his military uniform when he left Wilton, frequently traveled Route 4 through Auburn on his way to Topsham, police said.
