Hubert D. Palmer

RUMFORD – Hubert D. Palmer, 91, of Common Road, in Dixfield, died Thursday, Sept. 10, at Rumford Hospital following a long illness.


He was born in Starks, a son of Ernest A. and Ellura (Day) Palmer. Hubert was educated in Starks schools.
He married Alfa A. (Rand) on Aug. 27, 1939, in Rumford Center, and together they celebrated 70 years of marriage and raised three children. He was employed for 30 years with Oxford Paper Co. Hubert loved hunting, trapping and gardening.


Surviving are his wife of 70 years, Alfa (Rand) Palmer of Dixfield; three children, Hubert S. Palmer and wife, Nancy, of Mexico, Joyce P. Farwell of Dixfield and Brian L. Palmer and wife, Elizabeth, of Dixfield; two sisters, Pauline Hennings and husband, Arlo, of Farmington Falls and Lynette Trafton of Skowhegan; a brother, Gervin Palmer and wife, Donna, of Livermore; a sister-in-law, Maxine Palmer of Dixfield; nine grandchildren, Michael Palmer, David Palmer, Timothy Palmer, Tammy Libby and husband, Pete, Randy Palmer and wife, Carol, Scott Farwell and wife, Linda, Patrick Farwell, Shane Farwell and wife, Stacy and Burton Palmer and wife, Eden; 13 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren.


He was predeceased by his parents; two sisters, Iva Martin and Lina Withee; five brothers, Leslie Palmer, Rodney Palmer, James Palmer, Ernest Palmer Jr. and Damon Palmer; and a son-in-law, Willard Farwell Jr.
