OXFORD — Two people were transported to Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway Sunday after rescue crews had to remove them from wrecked pickup trucks using the Jaws of Life.
Oxford Police Officer Shawn Wood said that the two-vehicle accident occurred at 6:05 p.m. in the parking lot of Hannaford and Pizza Hut on Main Street in Oxford, also known as Route 26. Two vehicles were involved in the accident, which led to the 1998 Chevrolet S10 pickup truck driven by Sarah Hall, 21, of Oxford, rolling over and landing upside down, trapping Hall and her passenger, Trista Tibbetts, 20, also of Oxford, inside the cab.
Wood said that the driver of the other vehicle, Ronica Heaward, 39, of Oxford, who was driving a 2001 Chevrolet, suffered no injuries. No further information was available about the crash, which remains under investigation.
The accident is still under investigation.
