Martha Ann Ryan
1947 – 2009
AUBURN — Martha Ann Ryan, 62, died Sept. 12, after a courageous battle with cancer at the Hospice House with her two daughters by her side.
She was born in Lewiston, July 2, 1947, the daughter of Elmer and Myra Huotari and sister to the late Brenda Judkins. A graduate of Oxford Hills High School in 1966. She went on to work at Cornwall Wood Products, Oxford Hills Regional School District as a bus driver for many years, Attitash Bear Peak Ski Resort in Bartlett, N.H., for 22 years and most recently at L.L. Bean as a security guard in Brunswick.
On Sept. 25, 1971, she married the late Thomas H. Ryan III.
She was known for her love of the outdoors, landscaping, reading, her cat, “Wally,” boating on Moose Pond in Bridgton and there wasn’t a yard sale that she did not like. She enjoyed traveling to various warmer climates after working in the cold winters at Attitash.
She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in South Paris and an officer of the John Leo Murray Jr. American Legion Post Unit 171 in Harpswell.
She is survived by her mother, Myra P. Huotari of West Paris; two daughters, Christine Ryan and her son, Nicholas Allen of South Paris and Saara (Ryan) Leduc, her husband, Kevin and their two children, Jackson and Alex; and a nephew, Jeffrey Judkins of Portland.
She was predeceased by father, Elmer Huotari.
